Fort Sam Houston Transportation Management Plan

The Fort Sam Houston Transportation Management Plan (TMP) comprises a set of efforts to identify strategic actions necessary to meet current needs at the installation, as well as to prepare for future growth. A traffic engineering study was undertaken as part of this plan to assess current road and traffic patterns at the installation and determine current capabilities. This report summarizes those efforts and provides recommendations for short-term solutions to existing problems as well as long-term solutions for accommodating future developments at the installation.

The TMP strategies were informed by information gathered in the traffic engineering study, stakeholder interviews, and a collaborative workshop. They include supporting safe pedestrians and troop movements, enhancing roadway safety and efficiency, alleviating demand on the network through reduced vehicle volume, and mitigating parking overlaps and overflows.
