Larson Design Group (LDG), as part of a joint venture team, provided architecture and engineering services for a new 70,760-square-foot dual dock aircraft maintenance hangar at Tinker Air Force Base. Designed to support unfueled B-52 aircraft maintenance and modernization, the facility extends the operational life of mission-critical U.S. Air Force assets.
The high-bay hangar measures 185 feet by 360 feet with a 70-foot clear height and features a 175-foot clear-span motorized door. Delivered using alternative construction methods, including a pre-engineered metal building system and prefabricated wall panels, the project achieved cost and schedule efficiencies while meeting stringent DoD UFC requirements. The facility includes ancillary shop and storage space, supporting infrastructure, and approximately 328,500 square feet of rigid aircraft apron pavement constructed near an active runway.
LDG served as Architect and Engineer of Record for multiple disciplines and provided construction phase services, coordinating closely with stakeholders and concurrent airfield operations to successfully deliver this mission-critical facility.
