Centre County Multimodal Bridge Rehabilitation Bundle Project

Centre County
Curtin, Miles, and Spring Townships, Centre County, PA

LDG provided bridge engineering and design services for a rehabilitation bundle that included the T-505 (Main Street) bridge over Beech Creek in Curtin Township, the T-526 (Fox Gap Road) bridge over Elk Creek in Miles Township, and the T-942 (Lower Coleville Road) bridge over Buffalo Run in Spring Township.

The project included design and construction of bridge deck replacements for the Curtin and Miles township bridges and replacement of the entire superstructure of the Spring township bridge, which had been closed due to its poor condition. However, all three bridges now feature new reinforced concrete composite decks that will preserve the existing prestressed adjacent box beams, and existing weight limits for the structures have been eliminated, allowing school buses and plow trucks to utilize them without worry of a limit. LDG’s thorough and efficient work allowed the Spring Township bridge to reopen and, crucially, helped reduce the overall number of locally owned bridges in Centre County rated as poor condition.
