Larson Design Group (LDG) provided bridge design and engineering services as well as bidding review and construction inspection services for the rehabilitation of Sullivan County Bridge #4, commonly referred to as the Hillsgrove Covered Bridge. The 185-foot, single-span, timber burr arch truss covered bridge, carries a single-lane of traffic over the scenic Loyalsock Creek in Hillsgrove Township, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. The purpose of the project was to rehabilitate the damaged structural members, repair the damaged abutments, preserve the historic appearance of the covered bridge, and reopen the structure to local traffic as soon as possible. The rehabilitation involved constructing a temporary support structure under the bridge and the in-kind replacement of the bridge’s damaged structural members.
