Common Air Route Surveillance Radar (CARSR) Training Center

Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center

The Common Air Route Surveillance Radar (CARSR) Training Center for the FAA Academy at Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center replaces several small, outdated, and scattered facilities, to provide new training accommodations for radar technicians from around the world. Classroom spaces are provided for traditional instruction, as well as lab spaces that permit hands-on training on fully functional equipment and static mock-ups. Instructor offices are located in the facility, improving student access to the faculty outside of classroom hours. The facility is designed to meet and exceed FAA energy-savings requirements, with a high-performance building envelope and geothermal HVAC system. A tornado shelter is provided for the full facility occupancy, providing both safety and peace-of-mind for visiting students.
