LDG provided master planning and engineering services to develop an illustrative master plan and bridge feasibility study for Volunteer Park, a public park in the City of Shamokin. The project guides sustainable development, future infrastructure improvements, and financially feasible recommendations to transform the park into an accessible, four-season community gathering space.
Key Highlights:
• Public engagement to foster community pride, inclusivity, and volunteerism
• Development of three alternative park designs, including potential footbridge locations, finishes, and cost estimates
• Health, safety, and social connectivity-focused master planning
• Recommendations for phased implementation, maintenance, and security
The planning process included stakeholder interviews, a public participation plan, and site analysis to document existing needs. Public input guided the selection of the final footbridge location and park improvements. The resulting master plan provides detailed illustrations, cost estimates, and guidance for park enhancements, ensuring Volunteer Park continues to serve the community effectively now and in the future.
