Sports stadiums are an integral part of a university’s identity, serving to bolster pride and unity among its students, faculty, alumni, and community.
As in most university projects, completing construction before the start of an academic year is important to minimize interruptions on the campus. Construction was completed near the end of August 2008, just in time for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Under our open-end agreement with Bloomsburg University (BU), Larson Design Group (LDG) has provided engineering design for other athletic facilities projects, including a new tennis complex and multi-purpose artificial turf field for soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey.
In 2007, BU asked LDG to provide modifications and additions to its Redman football stadium. Services included site design for new turf and track fields; structural design for new press box, visitor’s restroom and bleacher modifications to accommodate ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements; parking and stadium lighting, power and communications; and surveying. Paved walkways, landscaping, and a stormwater management system were incorporated. Conduit and pull-box rough-ins were necessary in the routing of the electrical and communications systems to minimize trenching conflicts within the construction of the turf field. LDG completed full bidding services on this project.
