The proposed Presque Isle Greenway and Center is a 58-acre greenway entrance to Presque Isle State Park. Larson Design Group prepared the Conceptual Master Plan for the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). This project included working closely with a project management team consisting of members from various local groups and organizations. This process included developing and implementing a survey questionnaire, assessing existing site conditions, review of zoning and land development requirements, establishing constraints, and developing recommendations for the project management team. From the information developed, a Conceptual Master Plan was published. The Plan will be used as a source document for preparing presentations to local groups and organizations and for obtaining grant funding for the project.
Site features of the Conceptual Master Plan include a 55,000 square foot center, a walking/hiking path, a bikeway, a tramway, outdoor education areas, landscaping areas, natural areas, and development areas. The purpose of the greenway and center will be to preserve delicate natural resources, provide habitat for wildlife, establish a hub for tourism, research, and education, and establish continuous trails and areas for recreation and outdoor education.
