Spangler Athletic Field Acid Mine Drainage Pipe Replacement

LDG is providing engineering services for PADEP’s Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation (BAMR) to replace a failing acid mine drainage pipe at Spangler Athletic Field in the borough of Northern Cambria, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

The project includes replacing approximately 450 feet of failing 10-inch terra cotta pipe and cleanouts that run through 29^th Street and discharge into a PennDOT catch basin on SR 219 in the borough of Northern Cambria. LDG plans to replace the 10-inch terra cotta pipe with 12-inch PVC so that the increased size can provide additional capacity if the need should arise in the future. Where feasible, LDG will also adjust the alignment of the new pipe to be located within public right-of-way, diverting it from at least two private properties near 29^th Street into which the current pipe extends.
