Ellis Hollow Water Tank and Watermain Extension

LDG provided survey, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and final design services for a 600,000-gallon, glass-lined, bolted-steel, ground-level storage tank; approximately 3,600 linear feet of a 12-inch ductile iron watermain; and a new control/pressure reducing station for the town of Ithaca in Tompkins County, New York. The scope included the tank’s site design, which involved the driveway and building pad, grading, site security, and stormwater management. Because the tank was designed to operate in parallel with an existing tank at a different location, an altitude valve was included in the design. The watermain design included pipeline design, siting valves and hydrants, and the design and coordination associated with tying into the existing distribution system at multiple locations. The mechanical and electrical engineering services involved the control valve building and electrical service to the tank site.
