LDG provided the preliminary and final design, and construction administration for the upgrade the wastewater treatment facility in the town of Nichols, Tioga County, New York. The project increased the wastewater treatment facility’s capacity from 40,000 gallons per day (GPD) to 240,000 GPD to support the processing needs of a key industrial client. The project included upgrades to the influent pumping station, elimination of the existing headworks to make room for a new biological reactor, new headworks structure, design for a new biological treatment process, upgrades to the effluent filtration system, a new chlorine disinfection system, upgrades to the aerobic sludge holding tank, renovations to the existing control building to support the expanded process, and electrical upgrades including a new 3-phase, 480V power supply and connection to the facility’s diesel fueled generator. Under LDG’s direction, the project was completed within 11 months rather than a typical 24-month schedule to meet the client’s aggressive schedule to close the deal with CCS.
