Lake Thunderbird State Park Master Plan

In 2023, LDG was engaged to develop a comprehensive master plan for Lake Thunderbird State Park to guide future land use, development, and construction decisions. The plan balances enhanced park usability, sustainability, and economic viability with the preservation of natural resources and community priorities.

Key Highlights:

• Stakeholder and public engagement, including virtual meetings and a two-day in-person workshop
• Placemaking features, trail connectivity, and recreational enhancements
• Illustrative graphics, maps, and renderings to support planning decisions
• Needs assessment informed by market analysis and input from park users

The master plan provides site-specific details, rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimates, and recommendations for project implementation and funding. Phased projects include renovations of existing facilities, development of new amenities, and improvements to trails and recreational areas. LDG’s plan supports informed decision-making by park officials and positions Lake Thunderbird State Park as a regional economic and tourism destination.
