West Ridge Commerce Center

Morgantown, WV

LDG performed geotechnical engineering for the development of the WestRidge Commerce Center in Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia. Services included site reconnaissance, subsurface exploration, laboratory testing, and engineering analysis. Using standard drilling techniques and a sonic drill with intermediate split spoon (SPT) sampling in zones of deeper fill, LDG advanced 29 test borings approximately 20 to 115 feet each through soil and rock (as required) to explore the subsurface conditions. The conditions encountered included deep fill (over 100 feet) placed after over excavation of mine spoil and the mined-out Pittsburgh Coal seam. The site development included the planned construction of a 30,300-square-foot one-story Butler pre-engineered building.
