WVBRIM Mine Subsidence Investigation

Larson Design Group (LDG) is under contract to support the West Virginia Board of Risk and Insurance Management (WVBRIM) in their Underground Coal Mine Subsidence Insurance program. In this capacity, LDG is tasked with determining the cause of damage that has been reported to WVBRIM by a property owner. LDG engineers research past coal mining activities within the project area to determine if deep mining has been conducted within influence of the damaged structure. In addition, a site visit is completed to view visible topographic features and to examine the structural damages. Based on the findings of the research, site visit and damage assessment, a report is developed presenting our opinion as to the cause of the damages. Included with the report are copies of any maps that were referenced, select photographs obtained during the site visit and recommendations for remediation of the damages, regardless of their cause.
