GIS in Energy

The use of GIS in energy is wide ranging from making scout maps for field and environmental crew to complex spatial analysis.

Our environmental team uses GIS and GPS for field collection, to delineate wetlands, map invasive species and to pick up many other features as part of the assessment and permitting process. Many of our energy clients have a need to know where their assets are and need to know information about those assets. We have also done view shed analysis on sites to show the visual impact of well pads to homeowners and roads to see the impact on scenic views. Our energy designers use a customized drainage tool to compare the run off from existing conditions to that of developed conditions. This gives them the volume increase that they have to mitigate through on site post construction storm water management.
