Oakdale Launchpad

Larson Design Group (LDG) performed a feasibility study and provided preliminary design, permitting, and site/civil engineering services for the new Oakdale Launchpad in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Launchpad is an outdoor learning environment and playground complex that serves Oakdale Public School and the greater Oakdale community. Teachers and students were heavily engaged in the design process, contributing countless ideas. These ideas were vetted by school staff into five organized sets for consideration by the design team. The Oakdale Rockets selected “The Launchpad” as the name for their playground via a school-wide vote.

Major features include an amphitheater, tree-shaded outdoor classroom, shelters, a small open area with artificial turf, large natural turf area for soccer, and a fenced basketball/pickleball court. Included are age-appropriate playgrounds for grades K-3, grades 4-8 and special needs students. A fire access road was relocated as part of the project to create an optimal location for The Launchpad.
