Larson Design Group led the comprehensive renovation of the 53,329-square-foot Base Maintenance Building (BMB). Serving as the headquarters for the AMP-300 Facilities Maintenance division, the BMB supports a wide range of operational functions including automotive, carpentry, and metal shops while also housing administrative offices and the campus-wide energy management control center. Renovations were completed in four phases to maintain full occupancy and operations, with upgrades focused on energy efficiency, space optimization, and compliance with MMAC standards.
To enhance the visual appeal of the facility, extensive glazing was added to improve the interior environment and provide the building façade with greater visual interest and depth from the exterior. Exterior colors and materials were selected in keeping with the architectural vocabulary of the main campus. Distinctive entries were created through incorporation of Fiber Cement panel cladding accents, and outdoor spaces are marked by decorative screen walls, canopies, planters, and accent lighting.
The project included reconfiguring administrative areas to consolidate AMP divisions, integrating a storm shelter, and new finishes, mechanical and electrical systems, and sustainable design elements that meet FAA Order 1053.1C goals. The result is a modernized, efficient facility that supports both contractor operations and long-term campus sustainability.
