Jones High School burned to the ground during an ice storm in December 2007. However, tragedy turned into opportunity. Insurance funds were combined with a bond referendum to not just replace the school, but provide a facility that raises the standards of education in the small community. The new 2-story facility houses 400 students and is organized around a large commons area. The commons area serves as the social hub of the building; it is used for dining, performing arts, gym lobby, and general building circulation. The building includes a 1,200 seat gymnasium and a storm shelter.
