Blanchard High School

Blanchard Public Schools

The concept was to design a habitat/building that is unique to the school and its mascot the lion. Inspiration came from the site of rolling hills with natural tall grasses and wildflowers, and childhood dreams of safari expeditions visiting lions in their natural habitat.  The building rests lightly on the site with open views and natural light, and with earth toned solid masses that are designed to break-up the horizon.  The Commons Area inside connects with the outdoors and creates a gathering area or natural den for students. The new high school houses 600 students and includes a 1600 seat gymnasium.
