Larson Design Group provided site, mechanical/electrical and structural services for Valley View Nursing Center, a long-term care facility.
This project consisted of reducing the bed count from 240 to 182 to create a community nursing model and convert an entire wing into Independent Living Unit (ILU) apartments.
The facility was renovated during occupancy, thus making construction phasing a high priority, including organization of a fire watch during the fire alarm system upgrade. Mechanical and electrical system designs included HVAC, plumbing, sprinkler, electrical power and lighting, zoned and addressable fire alarm system integration, nurse call, building entry control, and telecommunications. The building entry system within the independent living area allows tenants to control access via voice communication and remote door locking control system. The centralized emergency nurse call system and wander guard systems were relocated to annunciators located at the new nurse’s stations nearer to the tenant areas to allow better response times to calls.
