JACKSONVILLE, FL – Larson Design Group (LDG), an award-winning, employee-owned national architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, is proud to share that Tom Bestafka, PE, LDG Navy Programs Lead, has been honored with the Post President’s Award from the Jacksonville Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) during its yearly Awards and Installation of Officers and Directors ceremony in June.
A Well-Earned Recognition
The Post President’s Award, awarded to one Post member annually, recognizes significant contributions to the Post and its vital role in bringing together government and industry partners to deliver solutions and drive partnerships.
Tom has a long history of involvement with SAME and has had an active role with the Jacksonville Post since 2019, and he was specifically recognized for leading the planning and execution of the Post’s highly successful 2024 Industry Day. The event drew more than 600 industry and government attendees and included high-level briefings from government contracting agencies from Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Space Force, the Veterans Administration (VA), and the General Services Administration (GSA).
Leading the Post
Tom also was installed as Post President at the event, now leading the Post in pursuing SAME’s goals of driving partnerships, delivering solutions, and developing people. In support of these goals, the Post will be busy during his tenure, hosting a STEM Camp in June and conducting a two-day Tri-Regional Joint Engineer Training Seminar (JETS) in October. This event will build on the achievements of Industry Day by including a day-long training session in addition to the planned government agency briefing day. The Post will also host monthly luncheons and additional events.
“Serving and volunteering with SAME has provided me with a real sense of connection to our national security and defense, and the opportunities for growing the LDG brand at SAME national and local events are equally rewarding,” Tom said. “I truly appreciate the support LDG has given me as I continue to contribute to SAME.”
