PITTSBURGH, PA – Larson Design Group (LDG) is proud to announce that retired U.S. Navy Capt. Thomas M. Bestafka, PE has joined the firm as Navy Program Lead and Vice President.
Tom brings nearly 30 years of experience in defense contracting, strategic leadership, and a deep understanding of Navy programs to his role, making him an ideal addition to LDG as the firm continues to expand into the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) market.
Tom will be responsible for expanding LDG’s footprint within this market and the Department of Defense, with a focus on diversifying into Navy military construction (MILCON) projects. He will target regions with the highest capital spending, including the Southeast, Southwest, and Pacific Rim, while also creating synergies with other LDG initiatives and geographies. Tom’s expertise will play a crucial role in shaping the firm’s long-term strategy, strengthening client relationships, and advancing its presence in this vital market, as LDG seeks to capitalize on NAVFAC’s $20 billion expansion program over the next several years.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Engineering in Project Management from the University of Maryland. He will be based in a new LDG office space in Jacksonville, FL that is opening later this month to serve as a multipurpose location to pursue Federal market work, national clients in other markets, and local work.
