Larson Design Group (LDG) is proud to share that the Chemung County Sewer District’s (CCSD) Wastewater Conveyance Project has been recognized as the 2025 Project of the Year in the Environmental $25–$75 million category.
The award is presented by the Genesee Valley Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) and honors projects that demonstrate creativity, efficiency, and exceptional collaboration among owners, engineers, and contractors.
Several notable achievements contributed to the project’s success, including:
- Environmental stewardship: Specialized measures were implemented to protect the Green Floater mussel, a threatened species living in the Chemung River.
- Cost-effective solutions: Strategic reuse of existing infrastructure helped control project costs and reduce financial impacts on local ratepayers.
- Strong collaboration: CCSD partnered with LDG, Arcadis, and Vacri Construction to deliver the project on schedule while keeping community priorities front and center.
“This award represents the hard work and collaboration of all those involved in the project,” said Brad Sick, Sr. Project Manager at Larson Design Group. “It’s gratifying to see a project that strengthens local infrastructure also recognized for its technical merit and community value.”

The project was formally recognized at the APWA 41st Annual Awards Ceremony, held on January 29 at the RIT Inn & Conference Center in Henrietta, New York.
