The Pittsburgh Technology Council – one of the largest technology trade associations in the nation – has named Larson Design Group as a finalist for its prestigious annual “Tech 50 Award.” The honor was announced on the Council’s TechVibe Radio show on KDKA 1020 AM.
In covering the story, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said that the awards are “meant to recognize the most innovative and thought-provoking companies in the region.” Launched in 1997, Tech 50 represents transformative technology centers of excellence with tech companies at all stages of growth. Winners will be named at an Oct. 25 awards ceremony at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh.
LDG’s entry is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary engineering support program with Trillium CNG and PennDOT to deliver economical, clean and locally sourced compressed natural gas fuel technology to serve more than 1,600 public transit buses at 29 agencies across Pennsylvania. The program will deliver a cleaner fuel alternative for the environment. Because CNG is a high-pressure gas, the size, design, operation and maintenance of CNG fueling stations requires specialized knowledge and instruction.
The Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania has bestowed its 2018 “Innovative Project of the Year Award” to this program, the CNG station at the Beaver County Transit Authority was selected as Project of the Year by the Beaver County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. In a press release, PennDOT Secretary Leslie Richards said: “We applaud the work of Larson and Trillium in winning this professional recognition and for advancing Governor Wolf’s efforts to help generate a market for abundant, cleaner burning natural gas.”
