EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: Taylor Swingle

At Larson Design Group, we believe that our employees are our greatest asset. This spotlight is on Corning-based Taylor Swingle, Engineering Associate in our water/wastewater group.

What is your position here at Larson Design Group and when did you join LDG?

My current position with LDG is an engineering associate, but I joined the team as a construction inspector in April 2018.

Describe a typical day in your role:

A typical day in my shoes begins with a cup of coffee while I review my list for the day and check emails. After that, I begin working on the project at hand, which typically involves design work and keeps me busy for the majority of the day.

What attracted you to join Larson Design Group?

Probably the most significant factor that initially attracted me to LDG was the office locations. After school, I intended to remain in the area and soon discovered that there are not a lot of opportunities for engineering positions near a small town like Mansfield, PA.

How has Larson Design Group helped you in your career development?

LDG has taught me a great deal about the engineering profession and all that accompanies it. While I am just beginning my career, LDG has afforded me the tools and guidance necessary to better myself both personally and professionally.

What is your proudest moment at Larson Design Group?

My proudest moment at LDG was the day that I was hired. As a fresh college graduate, I had no idea where or when I would be able to find a position in my field, which was rather unsettling. The sense of accomplishment and the amount of weight lifted from my shoulders the day I was hired is something that I will never forget.

If you could switch places with anyone else at Larson Design Group for a day, who would it be and why?

If I could switch places with anyone at Larson Design Group, it would be Greg Cummings. As the director of the Water/Wastewater department, it would be interesting to see the opposite end of the spectrum and the logistics behind what I do on a daily basis.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know that I grew up on a Christmas tree farm, which is where I spend a lot of my free time during the summer/fall months in preparation for the Christmas season.
