Stewardship Stories share the experiences of our employee owners as they give back to the communities in which they live and work through financial support, volunteer commitments, and more.
PITTSBURGH, PA – Larson Design Group (LDG), an award-winning, employee-owned national architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, is proud to share that members from its Pittsburgh office recently volunteered with the United Way of Southwestern PA’s Build-a-Bike event held at the Cranberry Township park, in which hundreds of bikes are assembled for distribution to children across the county.
LDG President & CEO David Martin, Chief Operations Officer David Schaarsmith, Chief Marketing Officer Ashley Heinnickel, Senior Landscape Architect Associate Aubrey Bloxdorf, and Principal Engineer James Shroads assembled 10 bikes in just two hours – doing their part to reach the group’s goal of 200 bikes for the day and 600 for the week. It was another link in the long chain of LDG partnering with local United Way chapters for various events, fundraisers, donation campaigns, and more.
“We were honored to take part in the United Way Build-a-Bike event,” Dave Martin said. “It’s a powerful reminder of how giving back — especially alongside colleagues — can strengthen our community and our connections with one another. Bicycling helps children stay active, build confidence, and develop independence while having fun.”
