LDG Celebrates ACEC/PA Diamond Award in Surveying & Mapping Technology

Larson Design Group (LDG) is proud to announce that it has garnered a 2022 Diamond Award for Engineering Excellence from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA). At the organization’s annual Diamond Awards for Engineering Excellence presentation on Jan. 27th, LDG was named as the 2022 Surveying and Mapping Technology award winner for the completion of the Southeast Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (SMCMUA) Watermain Replacement Community Engagement Hub project.

The award was the result of the hard work and dedication of LDG’s Geospatial team, who utilized the ArcGIS platform from Esri – the world’s largest geographic information system (GIS) software company – to create a Project Hub that captures precise, up-to-the-minute data on how residents will be affected by a current $3.2 million water line replacement in Morristown, NJ. The SMCMUA recognized the need to improve communications when working on large capital projects such as this, which includes replacing 8,100 linear feet of main and more than 30 fire hydrants in the heart of the Morristown Business District. The Hub that LDG created communicates to residents how they might be affected by everything from construction activities to disruptions and key milestones – all accessible from the comfort and safety of their homes via mobile and desktop applications.

“For this project, Larson Design Group focused on improving communication with clients as well as communities, and their hard work paid off,” said Leeann Sherman, executive director of ACEC/PA. “This project will help facilitate better relations between project teams and surrounding citizens, making construction activities run much smoother.”

“On behalf of LDG, I’d like to thank the entire Geospatial team, from our field teams who painstakingly located the water system assets to our Applied GIS team for their out-of-the-box mindset and in-depth knowledge of the Esri environment,” said Gary Sheets, Vice President of Infrastructure. “Without their combined efforts, this project would not have been nearly as successful. I’d also like to thank the SMCMUA for the opportunity, their vision, and their teamwork.”

This year’s accolade marks the fifth ACEC/PA Diamond Award since 2019 for LDG.
