LDG Appoints Bruce Preston as Senior Vice President of its Federal Group

Larson Design Group (LDG), an award-winning, employee-owned national architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, is pleased to welcome Bruce Preston, RA, NCARB, DBIA, PMP, LEED AP BD+C, as Senior Vice President & Operations Manager of its Federal Group.

LDG’s Federal Group is mission-focused, providing full-service planning, architectural, interior design, and multi-disciplined engineering services for all branches of the Department of Defense and a wide range of federal civilian agencies. The group provides design and consulting services through indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) services contracts, alternative delivery methods such as design-build, as well as standalone projects from feasibility studies to buildings of all sizes and major programs worldwide.

In his role, Bruce will be responsible for the overall success of the Group, by developing, communicating, and implementing annual business plans and multi-year strategic plans to achieve the group’s vision and goals for growth and performance. He will be responsible for meeting sales, profitability, employee development and sustainable growth goals while maintaining project delivery excellence.

“Bruce Preston’s leadership and knowledge will allow our growing federal team to better serve their clients,” said Dave Schaarsmith, LDG Chief Operating Officer. “We are excited to add Bruce’s experience working with Department of Defense and federal civilian agencies on full-service design projects to our team.”

Bruce brings over 20 years of experience in the Federal market as an architect, project manager, and market manager with experience in both design build and IDIQ projects for the military as well as Federal civilian agencies. He joins LDG most recently from TSK Architects, an international planning and design firm, where he served as Vice President and managed both the Arizona office and the company’s Federal division.

Since it began operations in 2019, LDG’s Federal Group has experienced significant growth and success, buoyed by LDG’s recent acquisition of ZRHD, an Oklahoma City-based engineering consulting firm with high-end expertise in the design of mechanical and electrical systems for federal, commercial, institutional, and industrial clients nationwide.

“I am excited to join such a great team at LDG and look forward to leading the federal group as we expand nationally to support our clients and their programs,” said Bruce, who is based in the company’s Phoenix, AZ, office. “We aspire to be the trusted advisor for our clients, to solve their greatest challenges and partner with them to implement their vision.”

Bruce holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Fine Arts from Arizona State University. He is an active member of the Phoenix post of the Society of Military Engineers (SAME) and currently serves as the organization’s Southwest Regional Vice President. Outside of work, he has served as Honorary Commander for the 56th Fighter Wing Civil Engineering Squadron (CES) at Luke Air Force Base (AFB) from 2018-2020 and currently serves as part of the Blue Blazer Squadron for Fighter Counter Partnership (FCP), a non-profit organization that supports the men, women, and families of Luke AFB. He and his wife have four children and are kept busy with school activities, music, and baseball practices.
