PITTSBURGH, PA – Larson Design Group (LDG), an award-winning, employee-owned national architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, is honored to be a recipient of a 2024 Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence (GAEE), a program to “showcase the innovative ways we can protect our environment and shape a more sustainable future here in Pennsylvania,” according to DEP Interim Acting Secretary Jessica Shirley.
LDG was recognized for its Desktop BMP (Best Management Practices) Analysis with Non-Intrusive Field Verification project, a remote sensing based agricultural BMP methodology to collect Resource Improvement Practices that were completed and not accounted for with the Chesapeake Bay model. The program makes data collections similar and more time efficient and has been approved as an accepted methodology for all six Chesapeake Bay watershed states, as they work toward the goals of their Watershed Improvement Plans.

GAEE nominees are evaluated for their degree of environmental protection, innovation, partnership, economic impact, consideration of climate change, sustainability, and environmental justice, and outcomes achieved. Notably, LDG is one of the only for-profit companies on the list of 22 honorees representing organizations across Pennsylvania – serving as an excellent example of the collaborative nature and positive outcomes of a public-private partnership.
