LDG Wins Study for Federal Highway Facility

Larson Design Group (LDG)’s Federal Planning team has been awarded a feasibility study for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) that will determine a future course of action for one of its most active managerial facilities in the Western US.

The study is to analyze long-term options for upgrading the Western Federal Lands Highway Division (WFLHD) facility, comparing the feasibility of renovating the existing facility against the availability and cost of leasing other existing spaces from the National Park Service or General Services Administration.

“We’re pleased to bring in a new client and continue down the path of growing our Federal Planning team,” said Wes Baker, PMP, Director of Federal Planning. “It’s exciting to be at the helm for such a significant project for the FHWA and to help them execute their vision for a facility that’s best equipped to serve the public.”

Located in Vancouver, WA, the WFLHD is one of three administrative facilities nationwide from which the FHWA coordinates their mission of overseeing financial resources and transportation engineering assistance for public roads that service Federal and Indian lands. The facility serves Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington – states with some of the largest square mileage and highest numbers of Native American lands.

The FHWA administers a variety of programs and funding streams to facilitate transportation improvements for its many Federal Land Management Agency Partners, including the National Park Service (NPS); USDA Forest Service (Forest Service); U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS); Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and Tribal Governments; Bureau of Land Management (BLM); Department of Defense (DOD); U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); and the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR).
