Meet Andrew Valente, Technical Manager, who is based in our Orlando, FL, office. Andrew’s area of specialty is Fire Protection Engineering, a unique asset among firms in the AEC industry.
What is fire protection engineering and why is it so beneficial for LDG to offer?
The technical answer is, it’s the application of science and engineering principles to protect people, property, and their environments from the harmful and destructive effects of fire and smoke. That means I provide consulting and design for everything related to those dangers: fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, foam fire suppression systems, clean agent fire suppression systems, fire exits, fire codes, fire resistivity, and fire stopping. I say, “If it says fire or smoke, I can do it.”
What drew you to apply to LDG?
I knew many people here already and their positive recommendations attracted me to LDG. In addition, when I started researching, I saw the great opportunities the company offers.
What do you enjoy most about working for an employee-owned company?
The sense of rewarding the employee owners for performance, both individual and at the group level, and not unknown investors.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I was a volunteer firefighter throughout high school and lived in a fire station throughout most of college (it was rent free, and we got to ride and drive fire engines).
Which one of LDG’s core values do you most identify with and why?
Client Service Excellence – if we provide excellent customer service, we will have repeat clients. It’s easier to keep a client than get a new one. And to provide that excellence, you must innovate, work as a team, and continuously learn, and then project performance will follow.
