LDG Holds Second Annual TechTalks Symposium

Following the success of 2020’s inaugural event, Larson Design Group (LDG) was pleased to host its second annual TechTalks symposium, a TED talk-style event aimed at sharing and celebrating technical accomplishments and technologies utilized across LDG.

The virtual format from last year was continued for 2021, allowing employees from any of LDG’s 13 offices to attend and learn more about how teams across the company leverage technology and innovation, either new or existing, to streamline processes and find new solutions. Five presentations were chosen from submissions made by LDG staff, representing the Retail, Transportation, Infrastructure and Corporate Service teams.

The presentations included new scanning technologies and applications for a broader range of projects; demonstrating UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) capabilities for bridge inspection; the possibilities for collaboration between Autodesk DOCS centralized document management and BIM360 design collaboration software; temporary support strategies for bridge rehabilitation; and using GIS (geographic information systems) applications for real-time environmental data collection.

“In the fast-paced consulting industry, it can be easy to lose sight of technical solutions and achievements for the business of consulting itself. LDG’s second annual TechTalks Symposium has continued to provide an opportunity to celebrate the firm’s culture of technical excellence and highlight our innovative solutions to challenging problems,” said Andrew Kuzio, PE, who led the TechTalks committee. “Regardless of education, role, or experience, every member of the LDG organization is a problem solver, and this event provides a forum for that recognizing that talent.”
