For the second year, Christopher Wulff, site department project manager in Beaver, has given his time to students of the Burgettstown (PA) High School STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) course. Students of the course annually participate in an inventors’ competition at Inventionland in Pittsburgh.
Students work individually or in small teams to create a product that solves a routine problem. They design the product, create prototypes (using 3D printers and laser engravers), and pitch ideas in a format similar to the popular TV show Shark Tank. The high school reached out to Wulff and other local professionals to come in for a day to help prepare the students for the competition. Wulff helped the students practice public speaking and refine their design and presentations.
In addition to LDG, professionals from the organizations Energy Transfer, Range Resources, Washington County Council on Economic Development and Flinn Development & Consulting Services participated.
