Larson Design Group (LDG), an award-winning, employee-owned national architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, continues to earn recognition for its technical expertise on the McLaughlin Run Road Roundabout Design project.
Recently, LDG employees led a technical presentation on the project at a luncheon hosted by the Women’s Transportation Symposium (WTS) Pittsburgh chapter, an organization dedicated to creating a more “diverse, inclusive, and equitable transportation industry through the global advancement of women.” As prime consultant for alternatives analysis, preliminary engineering, final design, and construction consultation services on the McLaughlin project, LDG was invited by WTS to guide attendees through its detailed history and successful execution.
LDG’s Damon Rhodes, Director of Business Development, and David Worst, Technical Manager, explained how the team advocated for a roundabout to address the persistent congestion and risk of flooding at the intersection of McLaughlin Run Road and McMillan/Lesnett Road in Upper St. Clair township. This approach converted the signalized intersection into a new, free-flowing roundabout that greatly improves safety and alleviates congestion – a feature of the sustainable design that leads to reduced emissions and long-term benefits.
This is yet another accolade for the McLaughlin Roundabout, which also was awarded Roadway Transportation Project of the Year at the March of Dimes 2023 Transportation, Building & Construction Awards.
