WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Larson Design Group (LDG), an award-winning, employee-owned national architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, is proud to announce that Roger Williams has been named incoming 2023 President of the Pennsylvania state chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

In this role, Roger will lead the paid staff and volunteers of AIA Pennsylvania in advocating for the profession of architecture in state government affairs, appointments, and policies; in advancing the understanding and respect for the profession within government and with the general public; and coordinate the efforts of AIA Pennsylvania with the National American Institute of Architects and the nine local AIA components in Pennsylvania.

AIA Pennsylvania represents and offers professional and educational support to almost 3,000 members across the commonwealth who work at the forefront of a nearly $17 billion construction industry. The chapter also advocates for the value of architecture and for policies that promote economic prosperity and the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

“I am honored to serve as the 2023 President of AIA Pennsylvania and assist architects across the state in growing the legacy for this profession left by the generations of practitioners who set the stage for our success,” Roger said. “I will work to assure that future generations of architects are positioned to not only maintain this legacy but achieve even greater milestones.”

In his inaugural address posted on AIA Pennsylvania’s website, Roger noted the importance of both building on past successes and rising to meet current and future challenges, encouraging his colleagues to not only “sustain but expand [our] legacy, and to mentor the next generation of architects to have similar dedication to our craft and continue the established profession we leave to them.”

Roger is a Technical Manager in LDG’s Industrial Studio and has over 35 years of experience, having worked with firms in northcentral and northeast Pennsylvania, and has also practiced corporate healthcare architecture. He has been active in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) at the local and state level for over 15 years, serving as President of AIA Northeastern Pennsylvania and the chapter’s representative to AIA Pennsylvania for six years. Outside of work, he is active in his local community, having served on his local school board, the Bloomsburg Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB), with other local service organizations, and the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).
