LDG Joins Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate $500,000 Enhancement Project at Rider Park

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Larson Design Group (LDG), an award-winning, employee-owned national architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, was proud to join the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania (FCFP) and other community stakeholders at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the successful park enhancement project at Rider Park, an 867-acre nature preserve near Williamsport that offers hiking, trail running, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and more.

In addition to site planning services and grant assistance – the latter of which helped secure a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) that initiated the project – LDG also developed property surveys, provided environmental services related to stream delineation and protection, obtained land development permits, and provided structural engineering and architectural services for the design of the park entrance portal.

With additional contributions from Lycoming County Act 13 Legacy Funds and private donors, over $500,000 in enhancements were made at Rider Park over the course of the project, including an expanded parking lot to accommodate large vehicles; a new picnic pavilion and rain gardens; an upgraded information kiosk; and a welcoming new park entrance with stone pillars.

“It’s always a pleasure to work on a project that benefits the community, and the completion of this one in particular allows more people to visit and gather at a beautiful local park,” said Jen Rodgers, PE, Project Manager with LDG’s Built Environment group and Williamsport office leader.

LDG has long been involved with Rider Park, going beyond professional services to volunteering for activities like regular park maintenance. Teams of LDG employees frequently use their annual stewardship hours to plant trees, spread mulch, install fencing, and pull weeds.
