KC-46A Fuel Maintenance Hangar

Tinker Air Force Base

The KC-46A Fuel Maintenance Hangar is designed to assist with the repair and maintenance of the fueling systems of the KC-46A Pegasus aircraft. This design-build project will include the planning, design, contracting and construction necessary to complete this Fuel Maintenance Hanger, to include two high bay fuel/defuel aircraft maintenance docks, as well as administrative and facility support spaces.

The hangar dock area (including support spaces) is approximately 81,800 SF and consists of two docks primarily used for fueling maintenance. These docks are separated from each other to provide optimal flexibility of the facility. They are also designed to be adaptable to the changing needs related to this type of operation, including accommodation for ‘nose-in’ first or ‘tail-in’ first configuration. The single-story lean-to area is approximately 6,640 SF, and has multiple uses including administrative spaces, large gathering spaces, and building infrastructure.

The project also includes site clearing and grading, storm drainage, aircraft parking apron, aircraft hangar dock access ramps and movement area, utility infrastructure systems, electrical, water, sewer, industrial waste, aircraft fueling system, communications, walks and all other supporting facilities. Passive force protection consists of fencing to isolate the hangars. Facilities will be designed as permanent construction in accordance with DoD unified facilities criteria UFC 1- 200-01. This project will comply with DoD antiterrorism/force protection requirements per unified facilities criteria UFC 4-010-01.
