OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Larson Design Group (LDG), an award-winning, employee-owned architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, is proud to shine a spotlight on the projects that make a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work.
Building the heart of a community
This year saw the completion of the new, state-of-the-art Medford High School gymnasium in Medford, Oklahoma, a project for which LDG provided architectural design and project management. The 30,482-square-foot, single-story gym is poised to become the heartbeat of the community, offering an electric atmosphere for attendees to watch home and visiting teams battle it out. Riser-mounted and bench seating will accommodate 1,000 spectators overlooking a polished wood floor perfect for competitive events, while a large visual display scoreboard keeps fans on the edge of their seats.
Inviting yet exciting
The entrance lobby sets an inviting tone, enhanced by a display case and specialized lighting fixtures, and striking floor-to-ceiling glass walls provide clear views of the gym and allow fans to catch glimpses of the action as they arrive. The lobby and hospitality area are perfectly positioned to host gatherings before and after games, and to ensure fans can enjoy refreshments while cheering on their teams, the kitchen and concessions areas are fully equipped, including amenities such as a flat-top griddle, deep fryer, stove/oven, refrigerators, and deep freezer.

Centering the student athlete experience
The gymnasium has also been thoughtfully designed with the needs and wants of athletes in mind, with a trainer’s room featuring warm wood floors and an ice maker and washer/dryer for quick turnarounds during events; a multi-purpose room, equipped with a smart board and CAT6 connectivity to offer versatile space for meetings or team briefings; and large glass windows for game and practice viewing. With its dedicated locker rooms for athletes and essential mechanical and electrical rooms all interconnected by corridors and vestibules, this gym ensures a seamless flow throughout the space, promising an exciting experience for teams, fans, and spectators alike.
