LDG’s Matt Kalcich Appointed VP of Esri Users Group

Larson Design Group (LDG) is pleased to announce that Matt Kalcich, Senior GIS Analyst, in LDG’s Applied GIS group, has been voted in as Vice President of the Esri Mid-Atlantic Users Group.

Esri is an international supplier of geographic information system (GIS) software, web GIS and geodatabase management applications. The Mid-Atlantic Users Group, or MUG, is a group of industry professionals who leverage GIS and geospatial technologies that integrate the use of Esri software. The group’s membership area covers 121,000 square miles, six states (Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia) and the District of Columbia, and according to its mission statement, it exists “to identify and educate users regarding GIS trends, Esri product development, local/regional applications, and events of interest.

We are a group that exists for the sole purpose of collaborating, networking and exchanging ideas with peers and offering events to make that happen,” Kalcich said. We host events, meetups and conferences across the mid-Atlantic to encourage new ideas, advocate the use of GIS, and advance technology to solve spatial problems.

Kalcich was nominated by fellow members of the group, which he said was an honor and a “great experience.”

“To be recognized by your peers for your leadership and dedication to your field is really gratifying,” he said. “I’m looking forward to bringing some new ideas and insights to the group.

“Matt is passionate about bringing people together, sharing knowledge and cultivating innovative solutions to complex problems. I am very proud of his efforts to help organizations and communities be more efficient and make better decisions,” said Gary Sheets, LDG’s Vice President of Infrastructure. His election is a well-earned recognition of his dedication and leadership in the geospatial industry.”
