Employee Spotlight: John Rittle

At Larson Design Group (LDG), we believe that our employees are our greatest asset. Meet John Rittle, Sr. Environmental Technician, who is based in our Williamsport office.

What drew you to apply to LDG?

My first two jobs after graduating from college were associated within the energy sector and the environment. After hearing that LDG had an Energy Department, it was a no-brainer for me to apply to here. I knew I still wanted to stay in the energy sector, and after reviewing LDG’s previous work and projects, I was extremely interested in applying and becoming a part of these Energy projects.

What do you enjoy most about working for an employee-owned company?

I enjoy the company culture and positive outlook of an employee-owned company. We are all owners of the company, and everyone is part of the LDG family. Since we are an employee-owned company, everyone is always working hard and producing their best work to ensure we are delivering the best to our clients and LDG.

Before joining LDG, what was the most interesting or unique job you had?

Before joining LDG, I worked as a Stream Monitoring Scientist in southwestern PA, eastern Ohio, and northwestern West Virginia. This position gave me the opportunity to conduct field work in these unique regions associated with underground coal mining. Sometimes I miss hiking up and down the hills and steep streams of northwestern West Virginia!

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

An interesting fact about myself is that I was born on Friday the 13th. I like to think of it as a lucky superstition rather than an unlucky one!

Which one of LDG’s core values do you most identify with and why?

I identify with Teamwork the most. Team collaboration and communication during environmental projects are necessary for project quality and completion. Personally, I am always working hand in hand with someone, either within the Environmental Department or a separate team, to complete the projects I am a part of.
