Veteran Project Manager Joseph Schultz Joins LDG’s Geotechnical Team

Larson Design Group (LDG), a national architecture, engineering, and professional consulting firm, is pleased to welcome Joseph Schultz, PE, as a Program Manager on its Geotechnical team. 

In his role with LDG, Joe will provide technical oversight of the geotechnical services and support that LDG offers its public and private sector clients. Additionally, he will lead LDG’s multi-disciplined teams in the pursuit and execution of programs with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Department of Environmental Protection related to dam safety.

His diverse experiences and reputation for creative solutions to geotechnical challenges are well known throughout the region,” said Gary Sheets, LDG Vice President of Infrastructure. “He will bring great value to our clients, while serving as a mentor for both Geotechnical staff and broader project teams.”

Joe has nearly four decades of experience in civil engineering and has spent a significant portion of that expansive career leading geotechnical teams. Among other areas, he has experience in civil engineering technical reviews; assisting state Departments of Transportation (including Pennsylvania and North Carolina) with geotechnical issues associated with dams and impoundments; providing senior review of engineering deliverables; conducting dam inspections; providing business development support; developing scopes of work and budgets for proposal opportunities; and evaluating geotechnical and structural aspects of dam designs, including new dams and dams requiring repair or remedial action due to being deemed unsafe. 

Joe has also served as a civil engineering technical resource and mentor to several individuals throughout his career, and served on the PA Governor’s Technical Committee to resolve a significant issue involving slope stability in a key development area affecting highway and rail transportation issues 

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and has completed courses toward a master’s degree in the same field. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, and Georgia.
