LDG Chosen as Clean Water Plan Coordinator for Bradford, Tioga, Potter Counties

Larson Design Group (LDG) is committed to its company-wide core value of improving the communities in which we live and work, but also to projects that encourage stewardship of land and natural resourcesAs such, LDG is proud to be chosen as the coordinator for Bradford, Tioga and Potter counties as they develop their Countywide Action Plan for Clean Water (CAP) – a crucial aspect of Pennsylvania’s Phase 3 Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP).

Developed by the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to meet requirements set by the US Environmental Protection Agency, the WIP aims to reduce high levels of sediment, nitrogen and phosphorous in streams and rivers in the state’s part of the Chesapeake Bay WatershedAddressing this issue can be daunting in scope, so counties are encouraged to partner with professionals and subject-matter experts to develop their plan.

“We’re very happy to work with these counties and have such an important role in the effort to improve water quality in the Chesapeake Bay,” said Josh Glace, Senior Environmental Specialist with the Environmental Service team at LDG.

LDG will serve as CAP Coordinator for Bradford, Tioga and Potter countieswith Josh as the primary point of contact, a role that includes pulling together resources, previous research and data; identifying stakeholders (such as local residents and business owners) and holding meetings; identifying funding sources; drafting the plan itself and submitting it to the DEP; and running models to estimate the reduction amounts.

Such a role is an excellent fit for LDG, Josh said, based on the firm’s broad knowledge base and project history.

“LDG has worked in many of these counties over the years, conducting everything from environmental studies to permitting, wetlands restoration, and stormwater and water/wastewater management,” Josh said. “This is a natural extension of our skills and experience with environmentally-focused projects.”

Josh also encouraged residents of these counties to be a part of the process – simply visit the DEP’s website and look for ways to “Join In,” including contacting your county coordinator.
