Kara Demmien, Project Manager for Retail Design in Larson Design Group (LDG)’s Williamsport office, has been chosen as one of design:retail magazine’s fifth annual 40 Under 40, a collection of the retail design industry’s top young professionals and up-and-coming leaders.
Kara not only supervises a team and acts as both project and client manager, she consistently and thoroughly communicates with clients and collaborates with them on design and execution of projects. She also sets timelines to ensure meeting permitting deadlines and manages quality control reviews for all aspects of a project, from prototype to design layouts to construction documents.
In addition, Kara possesses a passion for the written word that she incorporates into her work, having taken the initiative to write numerous pieces of thought leadership content and articles for industry publications like design:retail and QSR Magazine. She also has pitched ideas to publications that have pursued her ideas and resulted in articles for which she has been the interviewee. Kara’s insightful and well-written articles help her share knowledge and expertise with the industry at large and leave her mark as a retail design professional.
Lastly, Kara is a master of the work-life balance, raising three young children at home while taking on the responsibilities of being an office leader for LDG’s largest office, serving on the employee engagement committee and leading the strategic objective of branding and image for the retail design division’s 5-year vision plan.
“Kara has been on the forefront of retail trends and design since joining LDG in 2014,” said Dave Balzer, Regional Director of Retail Design for LDG. “Her thought leadership into the latest consumer behaviors and trends has helped influence store design and improved the customer experience for several brands. She also leads a diverse team of technicians and designers who have developed hundreds of store renovations and expansions throughout the country.”
The industry professionals who made the 40 Under 40 list were nominated by peers – colleagues, clients, vendors, supervisors and others – who submitted enough praise for these outstanding individuals to catch the attention of design:retail’s editors. The list represents a mix of retailers, designers, architects, manufacturers, brand managers, entrepreneurs and innovators.
The 40 Under 40 honorees are profiled in the April/May issue of design:retail. They also were celebrated at the magazine’s HONORS ceremony on May 20 in New York City.
