Construction Services

Serving as the client’s on-site representative, LDG’s staff of certified construction services personnel is dedicated to representing your interests on construction projects. For example, the construction services staff can play an integral part in reviewing the project schedule. Options such as phasing the project to allow the building to be occupied sooner or completing the project in segments to help manage the client’s expenditures are examples of the issues LDG’s staff can evaluate for our clients. When the project involves renovating, retrofitting, or expanding an existing facility, LDG’s construction services staff ensures the continued operations during construction while addressing the safety of the building’s occupants. Through a variety of services such as materials testing, schedule coordination, change order management, project documentation, ensuring the work is being performed according to the plans, applicable codes, and specifications, and verifying invoices for payment, we help to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget.

Construction Management

When an agency construction manager is involved in a project, we are prepared to work with them to put plans and specifications together, select general contractor, and value engineer the project up front. Then, we will continue to act as an extension-of-staff, attending meetings, answering questions, and monitoring the quality of the project delivery.

Construction Inspection

LDG’s construction inspectors offer a full range of services on projects of all sizes. Our network of inspectors allows us to provide responsive coverage and help to deliver your project on time and on budget. Our services extend throughout the entire project from documentation of quantities and work schedule to monitoring activities to determine if work is in accordance with the contract documents, reviewing change order requests as required, reviewing as-built drawings, attending coordination meetings and providing appropriate project records at the close of construction.

Cost Estimating

LDG takes a proactive approach in working with our clients for project budgeting and cost estimating. Our philosophy is to have early, active involvement by the cost estimator on a project to ensure that, as we develop the project concepts, we are staying within budget expectations. Our integrated team of architects and engineers assist cost estimators in preparing quantity takeoffs to help define, or eliminate, perceived risks during design. Construction cost estimates or “opinions of probable costs” are performed at each phase of design to verify budget compliance.

Scheduling

We are well versed in using software packages, such as Microsoft Project, to accurately manage the duration of a construction project. Electronic construction schedules developed during a project’s design phase are useful in analyzing various construction scheduling scenarios. Knowing the order and duration of construction activities allows the project team to review the logic of what can be built in what order and identify long-lead items that could cause schedule delays.

Construction Administration

LDG’s design team of architects, engineers, and construction staff are experienced in providing construction phase and administrative services. We routinely review shop drawings, respond to requests for information (RFIs), and review construction progress for compliance and adherence to the construction documents for our clients.
