Nichols Road Bridge Over Rock Run

Cherry Township Supervisors retained Professional Design Services from Larson Design Group to complete the replacement of the existing structure on Nichols Road. This project included the preliminary and final design of the replacement structure and construction administration and observation of the replacement structure.

The proposed structure consisted of a single cell, aluminum structural plate arch culvert with aluminum wingwalls. The proposed culvert opening was 7′-6” high x 18′ wide and conveyed the 25-year design storm and 100-year risk assessment. The arch is founded on reinforced concrete strip footings 6’ below streambed. The project also included widening of the approach roadway to 16’ with improvements to the existing parallel ditches and the installation of guide rail.
