GIS in Water / Wastewater

Larson Design Groups water and wastewater projects work by connecting all parts of a system. We build the data into preexisting schemes taking the lines, connections, inlets, laterals, and manholes populating key features such as elevation and slope. Then build these systems into complex models and use these models to solve problems and extract information. Using analysis such as an upstream trace to find the affected structures for when a water main is being worked on. We can tie the structure back to billing address and mail out outages or have a resident communicate problems. Having these complex systems mapped allows us to track problems and look at trends that help locate aging infrastructure or defects in the system. These maps enable municipal authorities to track assets, assess infrastructure and plan for the future.
