Increasing Capacity for Manufacturer to Focus on Growth and Innovation
WSP Chemicals & Technology, L.L.C., based out of Ambridge, PA, manufactures water-soluble polymers for a broad range of industries. Their goal is to focus on custom solutions to water-soluble polymer issues to help commercialize innovative products and services while offering safer and more effective alternatives.
To continue their focus on growth and innovation, WSP Chemicals needed to replace two process tanks within their facility with new, larger capacity 60,000 and 80,000-pound tanks and install a new 60,000-pound dryer within another area of their process facility.
The process tanks were supported on an existing structural frame. Drawings of the supporting structure existed but did not reflect later modifications to the structure. The dryer was supported on an existing unused mezzanine structure, and no drawings were available. Larson Design Group’s structural engineers performed field measurements and documented existing conditions of the tank support structure and the mezzanine. Our design team also analyzed both of the structures for the new loading, and designed modifications to the structures to support the two new larger replacement process tanks and also the dryer.
