Description
The City of Lock Haven began planning for a business district treescape project on Main Street, years prior to the 2000 completion of Phase I – Jay Street to Mill Street. The City developed a theme, based on a historian’s research and the discovery of a post card depicting the multi-globe street lighting that was closely duplicated in design. A rehabilitation project of this extent had last been completed in 1912.
The City completed subsurface work on water lines and laterals prior to the surface work at a cost of $196,500. This would eliminate the need for future excavations in the completed surface improvements. The project included new curbs, brick sidewalk, tree grates, trees and thirty-four (34) street lights at a contract price of $806,000 plus. The project was topped off by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s resurfacing of S.R. 150.
