Words of Mouth
The professional staff at Larson Design Group has assisted our county with at least six bridge replacement projects over the past ten years. Their performance, reliability and customer support are the reasons why we hired them for our next bridge replacement project. I have the utmost confidence in their overall approach in assisting counties and local municipalities with bridge design.

Degenstein Community Library
Location
Sunbury, Pennsylvania
Project Type
New Public Library / Community Center
Construction Cost
$2.7 Million
Owner
Degenstein Community Library
Description
The new Degenstein Community Library, a 26,400 sq. ft. two-story facility, replaced the existing John R. Kauffman Jr. Public Library.
The two-story design allows the library services to be located on the second floor of the facility where they will be protected from potential flood damage. The lower level of the facility houses the Susquehanna University Community Education Program and a large multi-purpose room. The multi-purpose room can be subdivided into three smaller rooms for simultaneous meetings and events.
Due to poor soil conditions that are typical to the City, the library foundation system was designed with concrete piles that extend approximately 30 feet from the ground surface to reach stable bedrock. Pile caps, grade beams and an increased slab complete the foundation system. Second floor library loads are carried on steel beams and precast concrete floor panels. The steel superstructure is encased with face brick and exterior insulation finish system. The site design for this project includes parking for 33 vehicles including handicap spaces and landscaping around the perimeter of the building.
