Description
Larson Design Group provided four construction inspectors to supplement Penn DOT’s inspection team for the four-year construction period.
The project consisted of replacing the existing bridge over the Susquehanna River with a 7-span continuous composite steel girder bridge, which is 1,440 feet in length. Construction consisted of a cast-in-place concrete rigid frame underpass with 325 feet of underpass and 285 feet of approach retaining walls, left and right. Due to traversing a historic district and public involvement requests, extensive decorative work to the bridge and underpass plus plantings, sound system, architectural lighting, brick sidewalk enhancement and park improvements were included in the completed project.
